The Sinfonia

An exciting youth orchestra in Yorkshire, showcasing some of the best young classical musicians in region and providing them with excellent musical education and orchestral training. This training takes place within a week long residential course with some of Europe's finest musicians and teachers.

The Sinfonia provides young musicians aged between 12 and 18 with a residential orchestra course, helping them to develop both musically and socially. This is delivered by some of the most exciting tutors from around Europe who not only have played at the highest standard, but are innovators in musical education.

The Yorkshire Young Sinfonia is proud to represent Yorkshire on the cultural map of Great Britain. The Sinfonia has committed to a number of musical goals in regards to Yorkshire. One of these is raising the profile of composers from Yorkshire, as well as music inspired by Yorkshire. Another goal is to promote contemporary music by composers from the Yorkshire region. To do this, the sinfonia is working in partnership with the University of Leeds to create a composition competition, to help stimulate the creation of new music in Yorkshire.
